This valley is important mainly because of its fruit production and more specifically apples and pears. Their production meets national demand but also supplies foreign markets.
The wine produced in the valleys of Patagonia are considerably well-known in Argentina. Many of them are exported to the most demanding markets in the world, mainly North American and European markets.

The wine from this region is primarily produced in the Rio Negro and Rio Colorado valleys. The climate, cold & rainy winters, hot and dry summers, big temperature differences between day and night as well as the sun all combine to provide ideal conditions for making wine. The valley above the Rio Negro produces 80% of the wine in Patagonia.
