GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS: the region is part of Patagonia's Pre-Cordillera Andes and the landscape is typical of the region. There are hills and plateaux separated by small valleys criss-crossed by permanent rivers and streams. This running water flows into the Alicura and Piedra del Aguila lakes. A lot of springs come up at the base of these basaltic plateaux which ensures water for livestock and wild animals throughout the year. The current houses are located right in this area as are the former buildings belonging to the first inhabitants of the region. There are a total of five former estates whose sites were evidently chosen by the inhabitants according to the water available (quantity and quality), their protection from the predominant West wind, with good sun exposure (laid out between the East and North quadrants) and finally, with easy accessibility. Furthermore each of these places have impressive forests, with ancient willows and poplars as well as fruit trees (apples and pears). This is why we consider them to be ideal locations for building a good country home, cabin or refuge independent of the main building.
